ABOUT OUR COMPONENTS AND HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR JEWELLERY
We use gemstones, freshwater pearls, sterling silver, gold and goldfilled components to make our jewellery. For increased functionality and durability, we also use coated stainless steel to string beads, for example when making a bracelet featuring a continuous row of gemstones and other beads. Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% by weight of silver and 7.5% by weight of other metals, usually copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness of 925. Gold-filled jewellery is composed of a solid layer of gold bonded with heat and pressure to a base metal such as brass. Gold-filled items are 50 to 100,000 times thicker than regular gold plating. As a result, gold-filled items, even with daily wear, can last up to 30 years, making them both beautiful to wear and very durable.

GENERAL CARE TIPS
By virtue of being naturally derived materials, most of the components in jewellery are susceptible to damage from chemicals and abrasion. Some chemicals can cause the metal components to tarnish, or damage the gold layer on goldfilled parts, whilst pearls and gemstones may be discoloured by being exposed to liquids and oils. The key chemicals which pose a risk to your jewellery are hairspray, make up, sunscreen, moisturisers and body lotions, and household cleaning products. We recommend that when not being worn, you store your jewellery individually in the gift box provided.

CLEANING YOUR JEWELLERY
We recommend that you clean your jewellery with a soft, lint-free cloth periodically. Avoid using abrasive scrubbing materials and brushes as these might damage the surface of metals, pearls and gemstones. When polishing tarnished silver jewellery, you may use a proprietary silver polishing cloth. In doing so, please ensure you read the instructions carefully and protect your skin in the way recommended by the manufacturer. Also avoid contact with pearls and gemstones as they may be damaged by the chemicals impregnated into the cleaning cloth.

WEARING YOUR JEWELLERY
We recommend that you wear your jewellery after swimming, bathing, applying your scent, lotions, moisturisers and makeup and after getting dressed. It is advisable that you do not wear any scent, cosmetics, or other lotions near your jewellery, and in general you avoid exposing your jewellery to chemicals.
